The first two weeks were amazing. Phil and I have been surrounded by wonderful family and friends that wanted to meet Cole.. He is so loved! Grammy and Gramps (His great grandparents from Texas) were here for Coles birth and also stayed a few days afterwards! We are so glad that they were here. His Aunt Nikki and Uncle Rich came in the Saturday before his birthday and were able to be here when he was born. They stayed until New Years day and got to get a lot of time with Cole. They are so great with him. He also got to meet tons of people in Phil's family.
When Cole was born he was a little jaundice. So on Friday, Jan. 2nd, we took him to the pedi to get checked out. He weighed in at 6lbs 11oz! We left there with a goal that we needed to fatten him back up. Although losing weight is normal for new born, he was close to losing to much.
The first few nights that we had Cole home we slept downstairs on the couch and Cole slept in his swing. He did great! I had to wake him to eat! He never fussed and was just always so happy and quiet. We thought we had it pretty easy!
At Coles one week check up he weighed 7lbs 6oz and the doctor was very pleased with his weight gain! I was sooo relieved and felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulder when I had heard he was almost back to his birth weight. Another plus was we didn't have to wake him to eat! He was to just let us know when he was hungry! Of course that is when he decided not to sleep through feedings and to wake up every 3 hrs to let us know he was hungry :)
Overall weeks 1 and 2 were great! We had a wonderful time and truly are enjoying every moment with our son. Phil heads back to work next week, and that will be hard for both Cole and I, but it will also allow us to get on a schedule! (or at least try!)
I promise the following weeks will be more interesting!
