Beach Trip & Fathers Day

From June 20th-23rd we were to hang out at the beach with Phil's sister, her husband and kids, along with his parents. Fromt he 24th-27th we were to be in Texas. We had a wonderful week planned and took off of work for 5 days!!!! Little did we know this did NOT turn into the vacation we were planning....

We went down to Sea Isle, NJ on Saturday night and got in around 7pm. Cole was able to play for a bit and then we put him down for bed.

When Cole woke up in the morning he felt really warm, so off we went to CVS to find a thermometer (Happy Fathers Day!!).

We got home and took his temperature and sure enough it was 101.8.. UGH!

We were hoping that it was due to teething, but decided to skip the beach for the day and keep little boy inside and watch his temperature. Phil went a wild hunt looking for childrens tylenol and motrin and came back 2 hrs later :). Due to the tylenol recall, it is impossible to find it anywhere at the beach!!!  Cole eating, about the only time in the next 5 days that he actually ate!

Through out the day it went from 101.8-104.0, finally by 6:30pm on Sunday night we decided that we needed to come home so we could take Cole to the doctors. This certainly was not from teething. Before we left Phil jumped in the shower with Cole to cool him down a bit before the car ride...

Monday we took him to the doctors and she couldn't find anything wrong with him. His ears, chest, throat, everything, was all clear! Ugh! So we chalk it up to a virus! Every 3 hrs he is to get tylenol/motrin, so that meant no sleep for all of us until the fever broke! Tuesday night his temp. got up to 105.7 (pretty scary!). I called the oncall nurse and she suggested a sponge bath, it that didn't bring his temp down 1 degree then we were to go tot eh ER..We got him in the tub and within a few minutes his temp went down to 104.7 - no ER visit! Thank goodness!

Wed. came, still fighting a fever from 102-104. I called the dr. and they ordered lab work, and wanted to see him Thursday for a urine sample.

Here he is after getting blood taken. They tried in his right arm first and he was so dehydrated they couldn't get it. So they did it in his left hand :( You can see the blue bandaid.. On the way home he kept saying boo boo and kissing it! :(

Thursday we went to the doctors and they taped a bag on his little peeper - it was somewhat funny. She checked him again and all was clear with his ears, throat and chest. We waited about 45 mins for him to pee!! Cole's fever finally broke thursday morning... Thank goodness! While he was sick we were making sure to keep tons of fluid in him ,and the only thing he wanted to eat was cold mac n cheese :)

Friday - I went to pittsburgh for the weekend because my Gram was in the hospital and I wanted to see her before I couldn't travel anymore. Phil took cole to the beach to hopefully get some beach time! :) We got Cole's lab work back and all that it showed was white blood cell count! We are to repeat the blood results in 2 weeks! (I'll keep everyone posted on that one)

So needless to say - it was an AWFUL week off, and we need a vacation from this vacation! Enjoy the pictures!

Cole starting to feel better:

Second try at the beach :) Success!!!!
