Cole is 18 months old today! He is a true toddler in every sense! I am amazed at how much this boy has learned in just a short 18 months! most of us can't commit to anything for 18 months, and this little boy has reached and by far exceeded most milestones!
Cole has his well check visit on July 13th but when he was at the doctors last week for an awful virus (a fever for 5 days and a cancelled trip to Texas), he weighed in at 27lbs!
Here is what Cole is like at 18 months..
Cole goes to bed every night between 7pm-7:45pm, and wakes up between 6:30am-7am. We go downstairs after a quick diaper change and he plays for a bit while we get his breakfast ready. He needs a bit of time before he is ready to eat, but once he is he sure lets us know by going to his high chair and saying "foo"
Breakfast: Consists of blueberries, strawberries, pancakes, waffles, cheesy eggs, cereal.
Lunch: chicken nuggets, fruit, veggies (loves almost all veggies), pasta, grilled cheese.
Dinner: Whatever we are having or chicken nuggets. (doesn't like fish sticks :) yay!)
Snacks: Fruits, "nana's" - loves banana's!, crackers, cooks (cookies), pretzels
Drinks: most of the time water, but if lucky he gets some juice and the rest water. Gets whole milk 2 times a day - one right before his nap, and then at night when we read before bed.
Naps: he is doing AMAZING! on naps! He takes anywhere from a 2-3 hr nap! Although we are down to one nap a day, it is worth having him sleep that long :)
Cole is in love with his grandpap, who he calls "Pa Pa" - It is so cute and melts my heart to see him that way with my dad.. Also to see how cole relaxes my dad is amazing :). Those 2 men are my worlds (plus my hubby, but that is a given! - I picked him!)... Cole has a routine when he comes into work. When we get close to work he starts saying "Pa Pa!" When we get him out of the car he runs in through the front doors, stops at the table at the entrance and points to the paper that has an article about my dads company and my dads picture and says "PA PA!!" He then darts for my dads office and once he gets a glimpse of him he stops and squeals and runs to grab my dads markers and takes them over to him. He says hi to "Pa pa!" and touches his cabinet Key. He then runs to his toys that are on my dads desk (2 M&M people, boat, and dump truck"....
Ahh that kid! We sure do love him! Cole will then keep an eye out for Grama and once he sees her car pull in he runs to the front door to greet her! :)
Milestones:
*uses appropriate terms (stop, no, up, down, uh-oh, oh no, yeah, ball, all done, on, off)
*follows instructions (brings an object to you, sits down, gives hugs and kisses, high fives)
*mimics words - I would write everything out - but this boy can almost say everything you ask him too! It is amazing!!! He has wonderful manners and says please, thank you, and your welcome - not clearly but you can def. tell he is saying it.
*mimics animals sounds (cat, dog, monkey, cow, sheep, horses)
*mimics actions (puts finger to lips and says "shhhh", scolds the dogs, brushes his teeth, uses the phone).. One that I'm not proud to write but can "toot" on command and says "I toot!" and giggles. He also burps and says "I burp"
*babbles most of the time with great expression, and repeats almost everything you ask him to.
*stacks blocks, plays peek-a-boo, rolls a ball back and forth, scribbles, sits and reads books on his own, counts to 5, and almost counting to 10.
*points to your nose, eyes, mouth. Points to his head/hair, chest, feet. Gives high-fives, waves, blows kisses
*walks and runs everywhere, loves to be chased, walks backwards, climbs, dances to music
*helps take his clothes off/helps put his clothes on
Cole starts "school" (read: Daycare!) next week for 2 days a week. I think it is time for him to be around other kids and build on his social skills. All the women in his life that watch him have done an amazing job at making sure Cole hits and exceeds the above milestones, i'm sure he will blow his teacher away :)
Cole,
We love you so much! We can't even explain the joy you bring into our lives. We are so blessed to have a wonderful son like you! Your personality is amazing and just astounds us how perfect you are! We love you with all our heart and pray every day for you to have an amazing life! Thank you for being you! I couldn't have asked for more!
